growing gardens + crunchy paths
We expanded the kitchen garden (or potager if you’re feeling French ;) this year, and I have been working on it in all of my spare pockets of time for the last few weeks. The simple split rail fence was put up by my husband, and I built all of the new inground flower planter boxes, amended the soil, and did all the planting. I also built a 16 foot planter box that we will fill this weekend with onions, carrots and strawberries, and we both tackled the large job of removing all of the old mulch, and finally replaced it with the dreamiest golden crunchy gravel. It’s funny how when you reach adulthood those are the things that excite you the most, in place of getting dressed up and staying out late. Ambling through my garden with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night? Perfection. Throw some chickens and cats in the mix who love to stroll the paths as much as you do, and I say we’ve reached peak bliss.
