new paws
Never in a million years after my sweet boy, Jack, passed away, did I think we would end up with another cat so quickly. But, a little over a month ago, I read a very kind comment from a page I didn’t recognize that was left on a post I had made about Jack. The page is called @winsidewaywardcats and I was definitely intrigued. So I clicked over, and found a good break from my grief that afternoon, scrolling through all of her cute pictures and videos of cats that they had taken in, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and were now taking care of until they found forever homes. My girls and I would occasionally check out her new videos and they would start asking if we were ever going to get another cat. I wasn’t ready, but I knew if we ever did, there was a good chance it would come from her. Anyways, around Christmas this cutie pie showed up at her door, and the way she described him sounded like he might be a perfect match for our family. After hearing me give yet another update on the “black and white cat from Instagram” at the dinner table, my husband secretly messaged her asking if he was still up for adoption. He, and one of our daughters left at 5:30 AM the next morning to go pick him up and the rest is history. It all happened very quickly, and part of me felt a bit of guilt about getting another cat so quickly, but, he needed a home and we had one available with no shortage of love inside. So although I still miss my sweet Jack terribly, I’m very happy to be the new mama to this little boy. His temporary name at his foster home was Shakespeare, but when you have a six-year-old who really wants to name the cat, you usually end up with something a little sillier. Everyone, meet Beans 😂♥️ He loves sinks and running water, catching flies, and last night we watched him chase his tail in furious circles until he wore himself out. He’s a perfect little gentleman, and doesn’t mind in the least being scooped up and squeezed by little arms (or mom-sized arms) and snuggling up at all times. Welcome home little man. And thank you @winsidewaywardcats for doing what you do 🤍
